Skins on a Sunday? Girls dont make me laugh!!!

Does my ass look big in this?

At least that's the question every female asking themselves in Melbourne, maybe it's subjective thing?

So, as i have been out of the house a fair bit, more out than in, especially on the weekend, one growing trend more than anything has become apparent among the females here in Melbourne.

Now, let me paint a picture for you, Melbourne is a competitive place, if you buy into competition that is, and people do, they are always comparing themselves to other people, sounds like a recipe for unhappiness?

It is, not that the locals would say that, well it is and it isn't, now there is a growing 'trend' i have seen more and more.

Girls donning their exercise gear and heading outside (very good) for a cigarette (not so good), play on the iPhone and maybe a latte to boot. You can see them everywhere, who are they foolin?

Exercise is not exercise anymore, it's a fashion show now and if you can fool everybody into believing that you exercise, better!
Yeah baby, i'm out for a 10km run
It's plain to every man and his dog what your up to when your sucking the life out of a Marlboro menthol (hmm, that minty fresh taste)

Are husbands to blame for this trend?

Has anyone told the fashion people in London, Paris or Milan of this growing trend? I suppose it's a lot easier than wearing high heels and better for you too?

To be fair, who would want to wear high heels when your popping out on the weekend?
It simply amazes me, every weekend when i see people on the street, not everybody is going exercising or was exercising, it would appear the new 'trend' is to 'look like your going to do something, who would believe it?

Too funny, i can only wonder whats going on in their heads? In fact, i struggle to understand whats going on in my head so much, i think i'll defer on that one, if i can understand the me, then i can understand the you. But not any time soon, thanks, maybe one day, over coffee, maybe we can both wear lycra?

I do have cycling shorts, but i wouldn't wear them unless i was doing less than 100kms, and then where would i put my wallet or keys? Arghh, i'll just stick to pockets, thanks.

Women, you never cease to amaze me, what will you get up to next? We can only wait with anxious hope and wonder!

Skins are the new socially acceptable outside 'Track suit pants' (Trackie dacks) for the year 2012

I wonder if Brittney knows?

Life is going along swimmingly...

 March hares

So people, it's March madness and we are in it. You and me, unless you from a different time warp (and they exist too, believe me) and this is the state of affairs, nothing sexual or political unfortunately.

Well, after much 'time off', soul searching, cycling, swimming and maybe a few short breadth's and doing the things to induce shallow breathing, it very much looks like the IT industry is about to awaken from slumber, and present me with some interviews, who knows, i might be working this time next week.

Yes the Giant is awakening, i am like one of the little people in Gulliver's travels!

Can you spot me?

Hip, hip hurra......y? I think?

Johnathon Swift got the idea for Gullivers travels from looking at this mountain range while walking home drunk. True story! They are known locally as 'The sleeping giant'

Let me share this scenario with you, in getting a job interview...

So after Paddy's day, or should i say 'Paddys day', i drank too much Guinness (nothing new there), too much at the end of the night, none at the start and little during the day, maybe the correct word is binge drinking and after a pit stop at Mc Donald's on Bridge rd and taxi home, woke up at home without my beloved gym bag.

So, on a bike ride, out looking for hope the next day, i found a bag, in Malvern of all places? I ended up in that area, checking out all the streets and back lanes, Toorack too.

Hope

God knows how i ended up in that side of the city? I think it was a series of left and right turns, from god knows where, but i found hope and a lot of it too!!

The bag i found had DVD's, nice bag, good DVD's, so i lose a bag, i find one, not too shabby?

On Monday, i apply for lots of jobs on Monday and call up the agencies, i have an added sense of urgency to get a job and to get things moving in the work department and hey presto, i get a call about Global corporate Challenge and I'm looking down at my bag as the recruitment agent is telling me about the company, and i realise the bag is for not just the company, but the project the recruitment agent is talking about!

Too funny or a series of events that makes sense?

When i think about it, if i didn't lose my bag, i would have never had went on that bike ride looking for hope or rang that agent about the job in the first place?

And now as a result, things are after March Madness (including Paddy's day) swinging in my favour, with more job interviews on the way, and a replacement bag. It can only be a good thing? With a big endorsement from the universe, you have to laugh!

Mad as a March hare comes to mind, but only briefly.

So, what are the lessons here, you might be forgiven for asking?

  1. I need to get back to swimming and do it every day, I'm swimming personal bests ever day, this morning i did 40 min freestyle and 70 min continuous all up lap swimming!
  2. No more binge drinking
With the boozing i am reminded of the Japanese doctor in Tom Robbins book Half asleep in frog pajama
talk about when he loses the jade-cancer-curing-enema-pump (true story) when he was drunk, he says on drinking when everybody drinks too much, then have a problem, they are drunk.
He didn't have a problem before he was drunk, but when he got drunk he had a new problem.

Too true, but it seems like i have to make a mistake now and again to remind myself about what it's all about

Oh life!

Birthday weekend, and that means birthday sui Melbourne

Photos are from the Naked bike ride, Melbourne

So, it was my birthday on the weekend, and you say...
No big deal, It was my birthday last year!'
Too true reader, well as it turned out, i was 35, 35 years old, me! Yes me, now i've never been 35 before so i was a bit unsure about how to celebrate it and how to proceed?

I wanted to do something different and i have been on Febfast (no drinking for February), so i thought i would do something that didn't involve drinking? Like i always do.

So what i did was go for a bike ride, i did an 80 km bike ride during the morning and afternoon, one of the best trail rides in Australia in fact. Great!!

We were all heros!
Now, i've done this ride before from Lillydale to Warburton, in fact Warburton is on of the best drives in Victoria, in your car, beep, beep, get out of my way!!

Since i dont have a car any more, i never thought i could cycle there, but you can and it's awesome folks!!

It was good and challenging the last time, and i've been doing a bit of cycling since and swimming most mornings, in fact i did a 5 hour bike ride 2 days before my birthday and i thought it might be a bit too much, maybe over kill? But in fact i think it was easier, i can only put this 'easy aspect' down to the fact that i am getting considerably fitter?

Throw you arms in the air, if your a true playa!!
How strange, it's a new kind of energy, for me?

And i didn't stop cycling there, in the evening i did quite a few more kms reader with my friend Cassie and without her and we walked the labyrinth in Clifton hill, quite a spiritual journey and it's Irish too

Fitzroy never looked so good
Apparently Cassie is normal and gets tired and has to go home to sleep? Strange? I dont get tired so easily?

I did the Maribyrnong river trail, but at night, it's one of the best things to do in Melbourne and it's free, it was raining the first time i did it and it didn't really matter, rain?

It looked better with the rain, lighting, shading. The views were amazing, it's so good you cant believe it's not somewhere in Europe!

If i was a painter....that would have been the reverie

After that trail i saw the giant monsters that can lift 1000 tonnes of crap we dont need from China because of all the impulsive buying people here do, people live shallow lives indeed and you can see it all coming in down the port.

In fact the giant cranes put in 2 years ago will be moving 80 kms down the road to Geelong, so they can bring in more stuff we dont need, nothing is going out except all the $$$ and disposable goods come it, what a great economy, importing stuff thats basically made to break.

Watching it all the unloading from China was like being in a bee hive!

I ended up in my favourite Turkish cafe in Coburg, smoking apple and cherry Sisha, drinking great hot non alcoholic drinks, my favourite is Sablah (i think, but he knows i like it and he makes it for me, no one else in Melbourne makes this drink and it is AWESOME)

So, i have been doing a lot of cycling, i am getting so fit in fact, when the bike ride was happening on Sunday, the world wide naked bike ride, i didn't have any problem in getting my gear off, to be fair, it's what the people of Melbourne deserve and i have been working out Melbourne!

And to be fair, it was about time i showed my ass in the city, i usually avoid the place like the plague!

Were these people celebrating my birthday in their birthday suits?
